Learn Selective Colorization in 4 Steps with Gimp.

Today I'm going to discuss a very important and awesome technique in image manipulation known as "Selective Colorization". Selective Colorization is a technique in which a selected part of color image is left colorful and every other part is converted to B/W or Grey-scale. The technique I'm going to discuss is actually require a bit precision in your mouse handling skills so obviously it is not a beginners tutorials but beginners even with little extra efforts can generate beautiful results.
So let's get it started. First let me show you the final result of this process I'm going to explain.

Resources:
Model: From Here
Gimp 2.6 or better.

Step 1: Open the image in Gimp.

Step 2: Now in layer window Right click on the image and select "Duplicate Layer". This will duplicate the layer. Now select the upper layer. Go to Fx-Foundry>>Photo>>Effects>>Black & White Photo. This will convert the upper layer in to Black and White.

Step 3: Now the real part. Hold your Mouses and choose the upper B/W layer. Then Form the Tool Box select "Eraser Tool". With the help of this eraser tool and your steady hands(I hope) start deleting the b/w part from the upper layer carefully which in turn will provide a result like this.

Do this process to all the area in image which you want to be colored and leave the rest untouched.

Step 4: After doing the erasing merge the layers and save the image. I produced the result like this below. You can get something more beautiful. Keep practicing it on different images to get a hold on it.

Enjoy...[*_*]
