Create an eye-catching illustration with Gimp brushes.
I love Gimp. And that's why I keep finding awesome methods to do some thing out of the league. In today's tutorial I am going to introduce a newest discovery of mine. This is a cool method to create beautiful digital artwork using only brushes. Yes only brushes, no stock photo or anything simply brushes. But believe me the final result will be simply outstanding. So let's get started,
Resources:
Step 1: Open your Gimp program. Go to File>>New and enter Width:1920px and Height:1200px and click OK. This will open a new window of size 1920x1200px.
Step 2: Now select Bucket Fill Tool. And fill the canvas with #00a0b0 color.
Step 2: Now create a new later and name it "3dbrush". Then select Brush tool from tool pallet and choose different 3d brushes fro brush pallet and apply them on the canvas as shown in the figure below using white color.(try double or triple clicks on same place where to apply the brush to create darker impression).
Step 3: Now create a new layer name it "yellow". From brush pallet select chinese brushes. Set the size near to .60px, choose color #edc951 and apply on the canvas as shown in the figure below.
Step 4: Again create a new layer and name it "orange". Choose the same chinese cloud brushes. Set the brush size to .50px and color to #eb6841. Then apply it on the canvas as shown in the figure below.
Step 5: Again create a new layer and name it "red". Choose the same chinese cloud brushes. Set the brush size to .50px and color to #cc333f. Then apply it on the canvas as shown in the figure below.
Step 6: Again create a new layer and name it "brown". Choose the same chinese cloud brushes. Set the brush size to .50px and color to #6a4a3c. Then apply it on the canvas as shown in the figure below.

Step 8: Now create a new later name it "Girl". Place this layer above "orange" layer and below "red" layer. Now choose 2nd and 13th brushes from "20 people brushes". Set size of brush to .16px and color to black. Then apply them as shown in the figure below.
Step 9: Well the product is ready now. But you are not bounded to and condition. Use your imagination. Try different brushes. Try to tell a story with your piece. Be creative and learn.

What a simple tutorial, yet very fun results. I have a friend in the GimpChat forums that I think would really enjoy this.
Another great tutorial! Is there a way to view them in fullscreen though? As it is, over half my monitor is being taken up by the huge amount of ad space up the top, making it really hard to view the images and instructions at the same time. So much scrolling back and forth... but I don't know if it's me overlooking something or it's the site? Regardless, thanks for the tutorial.
Thanks..I'm glad u like it...if u are talking about those linkbucks ads then u can skip them from top right corner..this way u will get full page view...
